Funk genre by DAW LibrarY Funk = soul + jazz + rhythm and blues!

Funk is a music genre that arose in African American communities in the mid-1960s, when musicians combined soul, jazz, and rhythm and blues to produce a rhythmic, danceable new type of music (R&B). It downplays melody and chord progressions in favor of a strong rhythmic groove with an electronic bassline and a drum component played by a percussionist, generally at slower tempos than other popular music. Funk music is often composed of a complex percussion groove with rhythm instruments playing interlocking grooves that generate a "hypnotic" and "danceable" mood. Funk employs the same vividly colored extended chords as bebop jazz, such as minor chords with extra sevenths and elevenths or dominant seventh chords with altered ninths and thirteenths.
