Indie Rock genre

The indie rock genre is a subgenre of rock music that emerged in the 1970s.

Indie rock genre became associated with the "alternative rock music".

Nothing less than "independent rock" is described by the term "indie rock." It also refers to music and bands that are signed to a free, independent, non-major label. Indie rock also includes acts that perform without a signature, i.e. without a label. Despite its long history in the commercial music industry, the dispute over what indie rock is remains.

It is actually quite difficult to pinpoint a specific point in time when indie rock began.
Indie rock originated from alternative rock or classic rock culture in the late 1970s to allow for greater musical diversity. Since then, the United States and the United Kingdom, in particular, have been vying for the title of "King of Indie Rock." Just like it was in original rock 'n' roll in the 1950s, or a decade later with the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin in the 1960s.
