Styles

Waltzes, tangos, boleros, can-cans, minuets, salsa, various types of jigs, and the breakdown are all examples of dance music works that hold the name of the related dance. Contradance, merengue (Dominican Republic), and cha-cha-cha are some other dance styles. It's not always clear if the name of the music or the name of the dance emerged first.

Today

The electronic music is a popular style of popular music that is commonly heard in dance music nightclubs, radio stations, shows, and raves. Disco was influenced by electronic musical instruments such as synthesizers during its gradual decline in the late 1970s. "I Feel Love" by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, with lyrics by Donna Summer, was the first notable fully synthesized disco hit. Looping, sampling, and segueing, as found in disco, were used as creative techniques in trance, techno, and especially house music.

House, techno, drum & bass, jungle, hardcore, industrial, breakbeat, trance, UK garage, and electro are some of the most prominent upbeat genres.
