HOUSE MUSIC

House is a type of electronic dance music that was developed in the early 1980s by club DJs and music producers.

The house music combines many subgenres of dance music.

The rhythm created by a drum computer in 44 time at a pace of roughly 110 to 130 beats per minute is typical: the bass drum on every quarter note ("four on the floor"), snare strikes or handclaps on every second quarter note, and open ones Hi-hats on the intermediate eighth note.

House is often regarded as one of the earliest successful genres of electronic dance music. The musical style had a significant impact on the creation of techno and its scene. Both styles are similar and can be difficult to identify, while techno is often used to describe quicker and more "mechanical" sounding music than house.

House is distinguished by its loud, bass-heavy sound, which disco did not have in this manner. The usual sound is produced above all by employing a sufficiently loud bass drum, which is played in the "four foot," i.e. four consecutive beats each bar. The Roland TR-808 and TR-909 drum sequencers, both of which are no longer produced, are especially popular. Unlike techno, which has a mainly straight, machine-like fundamental meter, house is typically distinguished by dotted semiquavers (shuffle).
